2 Piece Contrast Trim Set, Cami Tank and Mini Shorts

The white edge is the whole design
Binding is the oldest performance finish there is: elastic wrapped round a raw edge so it cannot curl. On a running vest it was functional; here it is the only decoration, in six places. Neckline, both armholes, both straps down their full length, the side seam of the top, and on the shorts the outside leg seam that becomes the hem. Six edges, one colour, nothing printed anywhere. The eye has one thing to follow, and it follows it from shoulder to hem.

From across a room it reads as one piece
The side stripe is continuous. On the top it starts under the arm and runs to the hem; on the shorts it picks up at the waistband, curves over the hip and lands at the leg opening. The top ends at the high hip rather than the waist, which is what makes the join work: a narrow band of skin between the two garments, and the stripe crosses it without a break. In the full length photograph, standing still, the set reads as a romper. It is not. That is the useful part.

Two pieces, and they stay apart
Nothing is attached. The top is a cami that ends at the hip and works with jeans; the shorts are a high waist cut that works with a tee. The waistband is doubled self fabric with no casing and no drawcord, so it sits flat instead of bunching at the join. What the halves share is the stripe, so they look wrong apart in a way most matching sets do not: wear the shorts alone and the white line answers to nothing.

The straps, and the back
Each shoulder carries one strap, about a centimetre wide, with a metal slider at the front edge above the cup. That is roughly two centimetres of travel, enough to lift the neckline off the collarbone or drop it. The back is a straight line across the shoulder blades with no racerback, no crossed straps, no keyhole. It goes on like a camisole, which is the reason the sliders matter.

The shorts, and what they are not
Mini. The hem sits at the upper thigh, high enough that the binding shows when you stand and low enough that it does not ride up when you sit. There is no scrunch seam down the centre back and no V shaped dip in the waistband: the seat is plain, shaped by the knit rather than gathered. These are also not compression shorts. Same 90/10 as the top, so they hold shape without squeezing, which suits lifting and Pilates and not running.

The neckline the page calls square
The bullets say square neck. In the photographs the front is a wide scoop whose upper corners are squared rather than rounded, and the back is a straight horizontal line. Fair at the back, generous at the front. If you want ninety degrees on the collarbone this is close but not it; if you want a wide neckline that does not gape when you bend, it is that.

Fabric, and the part that ages first
Ninety per cent polyamide, ten per cent elastane, four way stretch, lightweight, and opaque enough that the listing says so outright. The knit is smooth inside, matte out, with no rib and no brushed finish. The part that shows age first is not the black, it is the white: a coated binding takes dye from the garment it is sewn to if it sits wet in a pile, and it dulls under chlorine long before the polyamide does. Cold wash, no bleach, no softener, and do not leave it bundled.

Three colours, three sizes, and what it is not
Black, brown and navy, all with the same white binding, so the contrast is the constant and the body colour is the variable. Sizes run small, medium and large only, the narrowest range in this line: the leggings version carries four and the cross back five. Between sizes the knit gives about half a size at the hip, so the tie breaker is the shorts, not the top. And it is not the leggings version, not a bra and leggings set, not compression shorts, not a romper, however much the stripe argues otherwise.
