Wide strap, halter tie
Two straps cross at the back of the neck and stay wide over the shoulder instead of tapering to a string. That width is why a padded halter does not drag forward in a forward fold, and it spreads the pull across the shoulder blade rather than along one thin line. Both straps run through small sliders, so the neckline sits higher or lower without changing the fit under the arm.
Deep V, open back
The front dips to a deep V and the back is cut away below the shoulder blades, which is where most of the airflow in a hot room comes from. The V is narrow enough to keep a necklace clear and deep enough to show the collarbone, which is the whole point of a halter. Working the arms overhead, nothing pulls across the chest.
Front scrunch, longline hem
A delicate scrunch runs down the front of the knit, drawing the fabric in against the torso instead of letting it hang flat, which is what keeps the top looking fitted without a seam at the waist. The hem finishes level with the top of a high waist legging, so it does not lift when you reach up, and worn loose over trousers it stops reading as gym kit.
